Welcome
ALPHA KAPPA ALPHA SORORITY, INC. GAMMA DELTA OMEGA CHAPTER
Salutations Sorors & Visitors:

Welcome to the wonderful world of Gamma Delta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. On behalf of the officers and members of our chapter, we are truly delighted that you have taken an interest in learning more about Gamma Delta Omega (GDO) and welcome you to our site. Peruse the site at your leisure. Certainly, by the time you finish browsing, you will be enriched by the snippets of history and current endeavors that the ladies of GDO are doing. As always, we strive to "serve all mankind..."

GDO has served as a beacon of light in the Portsmouth, Virginia community for over 70 years. Our chapter was chartered on October 6, 1939. In 2011, the chapter will celebrate 72 years of dedicated and continued community service to the citizens of Portsmouth, throughout the country and abroad. Through the years, Gamma Delta Omega has enjoyed a rich legacy of innovative community programs and activities with foci on education, women's suffrage, poverty, civil rights and employment. This year, we will implement a new manifesto, T.I.M.E.: T (Technology) I (Innovation) M (Money) E (Economics), in juxtaposition with our national platform, Global Leadership Through Timeless Service, to carry out such programs and activities.

2010 has offered many new things! Carolyn House Stewart became Alpha Kappa Alpha's 28th International President and I became the 37th Chapter President of Gamma Delta Omega. GDO will be implementing the platform, T.I.M.E, which corresponds, compliments, and adheres to the International President's plan to continue the progress of AKA. Gamma Delta Omega will continue to build partnerships in the community and educate via programs, workshops, and seminars. T.I.M.E is of the essence!

I trust the information presented on this website will give you a brief but clear overview of our chapter. If you would like more information, feel free to contact us at the above address. Again, "thank you" for visiting the wonderful world of Gamma Delta Omega.

Sisterly,
Eartha D. Smith Garrett
President
